Create a timeline

Behaviour change campaign creation is a complex process that includes a range of tasks with a need to adapt, test and implement meaningful, evidence-based campaign activities. From start to finish, most campaigns will take about 9-12 months for planning, design, implementation, and early monitoring and evaluation. Further evaluation activities are likely to extend well beyond one year and will vary by programme.

A general timeline includes:

  • Planning: 2–4 months
  • Development: 2–3 months
  • Implementation: 3–4 months
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: (initial) 1–2 months, though long-term monitoring and evaluation efforts may continue for another year or longer.

While tentative timelines can be helpful for planning, it’s worth noting that multiple activities may be in progress simultaneously. Your team should not plan for campaign activities to progress in sequence one after another.
