Data sources and collection intervals
The most useful data sources will depend upon the indicator level and type of indicator being measured. For example, it would not make sense to use a governmental survey to gather information about your campaign implementation. You would likely rely on data from media monitoring, participant experience, programme records and other sources.
Most campaigns rely upon campaign inputs and activities for routine monitoring because it will allow them to make decisions about whether campaign adjustments may be needed. Campaign input and activity data is often collected daily, weekly or monthly, depending upon the indicator. M&E activities that focus on the behavioural determinants and outcomes are important but less useful for rapid campaign-related decision-making. Thus, data related to behavioural determinant and outcome indicators is not collected as frequently.
