The Moments with Mothers Campaign in Mozambique

GAIN, MISAU (Ministério da Saúde) and DPS Nampula (Direcção Provincial de Saúde de Nampula) worked together to develop a campaign to improve early child nutrition and contribute to reduce stunting by improving breastfeeding and complementary feeding of children aged under two in Naccala and Mossoril, the two districts of Nampula Province.

One of the most powerful things in Mozambique is storytelling. It’s part of the culture and specifically speaks to Mozambican women. The creative idea brought together a powerful message and the colourful world of soap operas to create excitement and engagement for behaviour change. The campaign’s name, ‘Moments with Mothers’, and the logo symbolises women coming together, with each colour representing one of the targeted behaviours.
